February 25 to April 1st, 2017

Galerie Nicolas Robert is pleased to present Andréanne Godin’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, In Dusk’s Dust : To Become Day. This body of work takes its origin in a residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut.

The materiality and physicality of the pieces’ presented in the exhibition seem to lead us towards environments where the papers suddenly take on the appearance of a sculpture or an installation. Playing with several registers, alluding to different mediums and sometimes breaking certain conventions of presentation, I work towards blurring the boundaries between disciplines.

In Dusk’s Dust: To Become Day, is an anthem to perceived, experienced and constructed environments. Moving from indefinite spaces and playing on perspective, I use strategies extracted from photography –realism, minimalism and abstraction– to renew my investigation methods, confronting the viewer to his feeling of vertigo.

It is through the study of light and its effects that the work brushes against the friction between perception of real and represented spaces. A stroll through the fortuitous encounter of landscape and architecture unfolds at the rhythm of a walk in the forest, where our attention is suddenly attracted by the incomprehensible fold of a carpet of moss or by the almost palpable light filtering through the canopy.
